Stories of placemaking

We invite you to evening full of presentations of various initiatives and their experiences in the transformation of public spaces. The event is a part of the workshop of the international network Cities in Placemaking in Trenčín.

 

European and Slovak experts will show you how urban environments can be vibrant, friendly and sustainable. 

When and where we'll meet?

Friday June 21 at 17:00 in Hotel Elizabeth in Trenčín

The next day, the Korzo Palackého event will be waiting for us, thanks to which Palackého Street will be opened for people for one day. We will experience place-making in real life :)

What can we expect at the event?  

We will introduce the topic of placemaking and show several examples of improving public space from Slovakia and abroad. Members of the Cities in Placemaking network, which has long been dedicated to transforming public spaces into places for people, will also speak. 

The event together with the discussion will last until approximately 20:00. The programme will be in English and will be interpreted into Slovak.

Architect and member of a collective of women architects and sociologists working on public engagement in urban planning.

Illah van Oijen, Punkt

Photographer, originally from the Netherlands, who has been co-organising the Bratislava community event Good Market since 2011.

A Partizan who strives to develop culture and commemorate Bata's legacy in the history of this only ideal industrial city.

Michal Mazánik, Doprava na Považí
Marketing student interested in public transport, urban planning and urban mobility.

David Karásek, mmcité

Co-Founder, CEO, and Chief Designer of mmcité. The company specializes in the production of urban furniture, which is now featured in projects worldwide.

Hans Karssenberg and Jeroen Laven from Hague- Guests from Placemaking Europe

Guests of the subsequent discussion will be Patrik Žák, Vice Mayor of Trenčín, Ramon Marrades, Director of Placemaking Europe and Illah van Oijen from NGO Punkt. The discussion and the whole event will be moderated by curator and columnist Zuzana Duchová, editor-in-chief of Koncept magazine and manager of Creative Europe Desk Slovakia.

Who is this event for? 

 

We welcome everyone who is interested in urban topics, especially professionals, people from the fields of local government, architecture, urban planning and design. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
