Art in a parking garage?

As the European Capital of Culture, we're committed to bringing unexpected connections to Trenčín. But sometimes, these connections happen entirely by chance.

Many of you might remember the Korzo Palackého event, which closed off Palackého Street to cars for almost two days. Part of the program, specifically chalk drawing by students from the School of Applied Arts in Trenčín, extended into a closed parking garage on this street. The activity caught the attention of the parking garage management, and after some not-so-long discussions, we found a shared goal: reviving the parking garage through art.

When looking for the ideal collaboration, we didn’t have to look far. During Korzo, we worked with the talented street artist Filip Ovádek, who has been known for years not only for his work but also for the Fest Art event. He painted "curious questions" that we ask ourselves, helping us achieve the goals of the European Capital of Culture.

"A few curious questions on a wall isn't art."

Maybe, but it’s a step towards something better, which we are planning together with the parking garage management. A few curious questions might awaken the curiosity of visitors not only to the parking garage but also to Trenčín, helping them learn more about its title as the European Capital of Culture. Curious about what else will happen in the parking garage? Stay tuned, and you’ll find out in due time.
