Introducing the Garáž 2024 Jury

Updated: May 22

This year, the organizing team was delighted by a total of 214 bands. Thank you for the great interest, and we are moving on to the next phase – evaluating and selecting the final twenty bands that will perform at the three-day Garáž event. The jury this year, as always, consists of experts from the music world who have previous experience with the project. Who is on the jury?

Jana Shina Lokšenincová

Singer, lyricist, musician. In 2001, she founded the independent music label Slnko Records, which is now one of the most respected music brands in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She started her music career with Daniel Salontay in the band Dlhé diely, and their collaboration continues today in the project Longital. Longital is at the forefront of the Slovak alternative scene, and their latest, 12th studio album Dočista (2022) was nominated for the Radio_Head Awards in the folk music category.

Alan Schmiedl

A guy in a hat, former skier, and member of the MKSR commission for minority culture. A choleric who thrives in progressive communities and the music world. He is the author of the MUSikEja "Bandcamp 4 Real" project from 2006 to 2008. An official member of the order around the Deadred Records label. A desperate pseudo-manager of the band AUTUMNIST. Member of the core team of cyklopasia, statutory of Pump Club, and owner of the pump track #backlip in cooperation with BikeIng.

Jozef Sklenka

Graphic designer for the Pohoda festival. His work spans from visual identity and curating the Visual Art Contest to music dramaturgy. In his spare time, he connects visual art with domestic music production. He has long-term cooperation with the music platform SHAPE+, where he explores the essence of musical art through visual aspects.

Ondrej Slivka

Music enthusiast, vinyl manufacturer, and owner/founder of Slovakia's first historical vinyl pressing plant - Vinyl-LAB in Trenčín. Vinyl-LAB is one of the most environmentally friendly pressing plants, not polluting water with chemicals. He started with "handmade" record engraving - small-scale production, and also engaged in DJing. Within a year of operation, his pressing plant advanced to producing small runs for Slovak and international independent music labels of all genres.

Lenka Kuricová

Artistic director of Trenčín 2026, worked at Bratislava's Kunsthalle, Amnesty International, co-founded the creative company Pucle, and coordinated the program for TEDxTrenčín. She has participated in foreign festivals and contemporary art exhibitions like CologneOFF and Venice International Art Fair.

Silvia Zvarová

Graduated in musicology from Comenius University. She worked at the Music Center as the manager of the international festival of contemporary music Melos-Étos and other projects. Since 2015, she has been a music editor at Radio Devín, preparing shows focused on classical music and contemporary composers. She participates in organizing the Radio_Head Awards in the classical and experimental music categories. Currently, she is the team leader of music broadcasting at Radio Devín. She is invited to grant committees of the Arts Support Fund and the Bratislava City Foundation.
